Quality Assurance

Cardiff County and the Vale of Glamorgan Music Service is committed to providing the highest quality musical experiences in schools, the Friary Centre and performance venues. We believe that all pupils should be given the opportunity to explore, develop and celebrate their musicianship in a way that is pleasing to them. We strive to make sure that all pupils have access to tuition by working in partnership with school leaders.

Staff

All of our teaching staff have been interviewed to ensure they have the appropriate qualifications, experience and potential to make a real difference. They are expected to keep up to date with teaching methodology and take responsibility for their own development. We support them by providing inset training and development opportunities, and assist them with the management of their pupil lists and data. All staff are observed and their performance is reviewed on an ongoing basis. All staff have DBS checks (vetting) and comply with Council Health and Safety, Safeguarding and the Behaviour Policies which are available on our website.

Complaints

In the event of a complaint, the music service has a procedure for dealing with issues raised by parents, pupils or schools. All complaints are investigated and follow up ranges from discussions with the teachers to full investigation in line with the Council Disciplinary and Grievance procedures. All complaints should be made in writing to ccvgmusicservicecardiff.gov.uk or by post to CCVG music service, The Friary Centre, Cardiff CF10 3FA. Each case will be forwarded to the Head of Service for investigation, and you will receive a response within 5 working days.

Equality, diversity and Inclusion

CCVG Music Service is committed to meeting the needs of all children, and shapes provision to ensure that there are no barriers to participation. We have specialist tutors who work with additional needs, and we consult with school staff to make sure the sessions are appropriate. We are a culturally diverse service, and present music from around the world, using a variety of teaching methods and instruments. Pupils who are on Free School Meals access our ensembles free of charge.
